What does the -d mean?

Convert Linux file to DOS file.

Why would I want dos2unix to print a linux file?

Because DOS files have a carriage-return/linefeed
at the end of each line in the file. Linux files
do not.

The printer expects a DOS file? But I got it to print the linux file by pressing the Paper Out button. And it also printed a linux file perfectly on the other (ribbon) printer, just not on the inkjet.

Cheers,
Steven
