Thanks, Sindi. Works like a champ. With this info, I was able to get
pdftotext working in Links (0.97 - should work on earlier versions the
same way, though). Here are the directions: fire up Links and hit the
"esc" key, which brings up a menu. Arrow over to "Setup" and hit "enter"
for the drop-down menu, select "Associations" and hit "enter", then "Add"
and hit enter. You'll get a text box in the middle of your Links window
when you do this. In the first field of that box ("Label") enter "pdf."
In the second field ("Content-Type") enter "application/pdf." In the
third field ("Program") enter "pdftotext % -|less." You should
probably uncheck the box in that menu (which is checked by default, it
seems) that says "Run in X-Window []". --Question: I'm using Links in
console mode so this makes sense. But if someone's running Links in an
xterm under xwindows, should they leave this box checked?-- Hit "OK."
Then, when you come to a pdf doc-link you want to read, navigate to it
and hit "enter." From the box that pops up select "Open" and the file
will begin downloading. Once the download is complete, the file will open
and view using less. Works great! (even less complex than under Lynx).
