hi everyone,
happy last day of classes!  here's what WXYC's still got going on this upcoming week:

Join us for the Inside Track this Friday at 9 PM for the new full-length from freak noise-rockers Lightning Bolt.  These are the blasting bass and drum rhythms you know from the last couple decades with some new welcome spices.  Awesome!!

On tonight's New Science Experience, resident dj Misty Touch and guest ZR DJ will be taking you on a journey through club culture, late-70's through mid-80's- ish. EBM - Italo - Old School - Boogie - Disco - Cold Wave - New Wave - All the Waves - Electro - Industrial - New Beat and more. Tune in from ten to midnight!

This week on Hell or High Water, we will be featuring the music of blues pianist Curtis Jones. Born in 1906 in Naples, Texas, at the age of 30, Jones relocated to Chicago where he recorded cuts on OKeh records and Bluebird. Being an unsung hero of the folk revival of the 1960s, Jones's track "Highway 51" was featured on Bob Dylan's debut 1962 album. Tune in from 1pm-2pm!

Sunday afternoon, Broken Music explores the recorded output of German visual and sound artist Claus van Bebber. In his composed and improvised work, van Bebber uses multiple older model turntables and hand-modified records to recreate dense beds of sound. His focus tends to be more toward texture and abstract sound than in audio collage or narrative. Over the hour, we'll review several personal releases along with collaborative works with a variety of players. Our show begins at 2pm.

Join WXYC Reports this week as we celebrate the Third Coast International Audio Festival! This hour will feature a selection of "Shortdocs" submitted to the 2015 Shortdoc competition. These are 2-3minute pieces all built around the same set of guidelines and theme. Tune in to hear the work of Reports producers, local documentarians, and audiophiles from around the nation!

This weekend on Sports Rap: A study of the outer reaches of possibility. There is a man in this world whose actions defy the probabilities of the cosmos. His name? Stephen Curry. What does his existence mean? How long before the church of Stephen Curry begins to coalesce? That, and "Hey! Derrick Rose kinda looks like he's back." Tune in Sunday night at 9 p.m.!

Tune in to the Outside Track for a new release from Savannah based artist Jeff Zagers called Still / Alive. Lovely dark pop tunes with electronics, saxophone, drums and guitar.  These colorful yet melancholic songs are a huge treat and not to be missed.  Tune in!
