hi friends,
good friday! hope everyone's looking forward to a nice long weekend.  it's april, which means there's another week of on-point WXYC specialty programming coming up.  read more below:

This Friday at 9pm on the Inside Track we will be playing Dub Syndicate's newest Hard Food, an album that was finished just before famous drummer Lincoln Valentine "Style" Scott's murder in his home in Manchester, Jamaica. Hard Food is the Dub Syndicate's first album in eleven years, and is the final recording of this stunning style-defining drummer's legacy. This music is rich in harmony and warmth and is a wonderful celebration of this musician's life.

Two hours of house n techno from local dj and WXYC alum JACK WARD on tonight's New Science Experience. Check it out from ten to midnight.

This week on Hell or High Water, Jane DW will be delving into some mountain ballads from Madison County, NC as well as some ballads deep from the coal mines of Appalachia. Tune in from 1pm-2pm this Sunday to hear expressions of suffering as well as hope in an effort to transcend beyond the corporal pain of life's hardships!

This Sunday tune in at 2pm for Broken Music. This week will feature the work of Norwegian vocalist and composer Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje. This singular musician explores the range of dynamic sounds and textures of the voice with virtuosic technique. Her collaborations range from subtle and tense, to loud, free, and joyful. Don't miss a chance to be amazed by this awe-inspiring woman.

This Sunday from 5 to 6 pm tune in for Fusion Youth Radio!! This month this awesome group of high school students will be exploring public education through a variety of lenses: the common CORE what is it and why does it matter, teachers?!, school to prison pipeline, curriculum etc. There will be some spoken word poetry, some short audio docs, and an on air interview with education justice organizers

This week on Sports Rap, we'll complain about the NCAA pretending to be ethical with Indiana's dumbass "religious freedom" law even while they perpetuate one of the largest frauds in American culture. Also on Sports Rap: isn't Stephen Curry unbelievable? Tune in Sunday night at 9 pm!

Tune in Monday at 9pm to hear Durham locals Cantwell, Gomez and Jordan on their newest 7-song self-released album on the Outside Track. This avant-garde, experimental rock n roll, no-wave, punk group has been playing their hot-headed and shakin' brand of skronky rock since 1999 and have kept the momentum going.
