I have three ISOs and two copies of one of them:
Stable isn't. It runs into all sorts of random errors. Having figured out that this is caused by lack of ACPI modules, I tried to load them and found them not.
NPTL gives up when it can't put the CPU in long mode.
20050719 testing gets as far as installing grub. It says "Probing devices to guess BIOS drives. This may take a long time. end_request: I/O error, dev fd0 sector 0". There is nothing in fd0. I can't strace it, but looking at /proc/[grub]/fd I don't see it with any device files open except /dev/vc/1. Both copies of this ISO get stuck in the same place. How do I get past this?
