If the notebook is not very old, it would throttle CPU to half the speed

unplugged, and look around the system, including the kernel config file,
to see what can be done?

I loaded a bunch of modules on booting and can now see the temperature.
Does ACPI automatically throttle the CPU if it can read the temperature?

It's predicted to thunder - there's a thunder now - so I think I'll turn
it off and leave it for Sunday.

I have cpufreqd running to do that. I don't believe ACPI will do it on
it's own as ACPI is just an interface.
