while I think that being able to rerun make would be nice, it still does not
address the bigger issue.

of course in _most_ cases everything goes fine, but the duration of a compile
and the
probability of failure at the end seem to be directly correlated. I _hate_ it
when i cast
something like mozilla and for whatever on my system it dies, and I have to
go through
the _whole_ stupid thing again when I could have just finished it by hand and
had it
pick up where it left off.

I've found myself saving the source tree and hacking up the spell such that
all the pre
prepare_install stuff is replaced by
read -p "copy the source tree back"
so then I can manually copy a finished tree back so that way sorcery can take
care of it
this very weekend I had to try and explain to ruskie that work around because
theres no
other way around this problem besides
a) finishing by hand and doing everything manually
b) starting over

A number of people on irc agreed that this fix would be worthwhile.
A patch will be arriving shortly, followed by a backend script, take it or
leave it, but all I
have to say is quite a few people think this is a worthwhile fix and I have
yet to hear one good
argument (other than appealing to our supposed deadline)
