Well, any new init conversion is, if it happens at all, far in the
future. Afaik SystemServices has had no release so far (although the
author seems to have booted some systems with it), and i definitely
won't promote switching to a 0.0.1 version for something as important as
init :)

simpleinit works fine for me, and if we ever need new features in it
that can't be handled by the bash rc/auto_init scripts, the simpleinit
codebase is quite clean and not too hard to understand.

Concerning a graphical boot with progress bars and animations for
starting services, that can be done using the bootsplash kernel patch
and some utilities (plus some additions to the rc and smgl_functions
script).
