I think we shouldn't remove gnome1 versions of apps until the gnome2
version has reached stable state. The gnome1 libs should stay in the
grimoire for quite some time for compatibility reasons.

The gtk2/gnome2 ports of vlc aren't ready yet, and won't be ready for
the next version either afaik. Removing the gnome1 and gtk+ options
isn't an option, since those are the only really functional frontends
for vlc (except for the wxGTK interface, which also uses gtk1).
