The time the maintainers work on the grimoire is much more valuable
than the download time of the grimoire.

Only a third / 380k? This is not that much compared to the size of the
source files people download after doing the grimoire update.

Furthermore, as someone else already pointed out, this third (or one
sixth if you don't count grub) is the max. gain we can achive by
moving out the patches. This is rather poor for something that
actually requires work.

By using rsync or whatever we can easily increase the download speed
by a factor of something like 10 instead of only 1.5, and this
solution does only require work from one person, not the whole
grimoire team.
