This would be my prime concern as well.

Also, let's not try to do too much in one go, if we set our goals too
far nothing will come of it and we'll be back where we started. Once we
get through the current upgrades I think we should see about improving
sorcery stability.

Though personally I feel the best approach is the one Thomas suggested;
i.e. create a static set of tools based on the current tools. I wouldn't
go messing about too much with the tools we use. They might be drop-in
replacements in theory, but there's always the corner case that can
throw a spanner in the works.
