According to the bug we (and apparently other distros) aren't quite on
the FHS 2.3 bandwagon yet.

Having said that, I've grown accustomed to the /media folder on my
machine. ;)

On this note I've brought up our old threads about this:

Here is a poll started by Arwed von Merkatz:
https://lists.ibiblio.org/sympa/arc/sm-discuss/2003-November/004795.html

Here is the summary of the poll provided by Arwed von Merkatz:
https://lists.ibiblio.org/sympa/arc/sm-discuss/2003-November/004829.html

Here is a request by Ladislav Hagara to have our next ISO FHS 2.3
complaint and Eric Schabell saying that, since it's a standard, we
should follow it:
https://lists.ibiblio.org/sympa/arc/sm-discuss/2004-February/005276.html

Summary of the posts: The majority decided against FHS and Arwed sent
that on to the FHS group, but they went ahead and made their layout a
"standard". It was then decided that, as it's now an official
standard, we should follow it.

Personally, I'd like us to follow the standards, even if we think
they're silly (you can always do `rmdir /media /srv` after an
install), but then we also have to target our audience, whom said no
to FHS 2.3.

Thoughts?
