Gentoo developed a user statistics program and the installer encourages
users to run it at the end of the installation. It generates a globally
unique ID for that user's system and stores it in a config file, then
transmits certain stats (ex: CPU type) to their server where statistics are
compiled and can be viewed online. We could develop something similar, so
users would "cast sm-user-stats" or something similar.
