I have video of an expert on colony collapse disorder and lots of
really good info. Unfortunately, the video is gonna need a lot of
editing and I can use pictures to cover up the edits.

I need some pictures of bees and honey.

A picture of comb foundation would be good.

I could use a picture of a bee feeder.

I could use a picture of a massive orchard.

I could use a picture of a truck hauling a whole bunch of hives. Or
even a few dozen hives in one spot.

I could use a picture of mites on bees.

These need to be pictures that I could get permission to use: so
either you took them and you give me permission, or they are public
domain (and I've already spent hours looking for public domain stuff).

Any help?

Fellow travelers,

Please forward to anyone you think may be interested and qualified...

Nouvelle Vie has just been awarded a contract from UN FAO to expand our urban
food security efforts in the greater Port-au-Prince area. This is an initial
three month program, starting immediately, with strong potential for
extension and expansion to other regions of Haiti. A brief description of the
project is attached (attach original proposal text), and more information
about Nouvelle Vie is available at: www.nouvelleviehaiti.org.

We seek a strong permaculturist with experience working in Haiti to serve as
Project Manager for this program. The Project Manager will be responsible for
meeting all program deliverables, liasing with FAO program officials,
training and supervising 3-4 Nouvelle Vie students who will be working on the
project, managing the project budget, participating in all field work
(including sourcing / procurement of materials), and preparing both internal
reports and reports for FAO. Demonstrated field experience in permaculture is
a requirement, including experience in urban agriculture / rice sack
gardening, composting, and training / teaching. Experience in Haiti and
conversational fluency in French are a must; Kreyol strongly preferred.
Compensation: $1,000USD / month, three-month term starting ASAP. This
position may lead to a longer term role as the program expands, and / or a
training position with Nouvelle Vie; we will soon require a Permaculture
trainer
to conduct the Permaculture components of a three-month advanced training
program to be held in Haiti December 2010-February 2011 for the Nouvelle Vie
Youth Corps.

Please send a CV, brief cover letter, and at least two references to: Joshua
Tosteson, jilt94@gmail.com

With appreciation,

The list scrubs all attached files so your Photos never made it into the

[What an oddyssey it has been for permaculture.info ...:LL]

After over a year, maybe more, of being offline due to hosting problems,
the Permaculture Wiki, permaculture.info, is now back online and ready
to accomodate anyone interested in continuing the work they started
there and/or begin new work. ibiblio is hosting our site and we owe them
much gratitude for this.

We need contributors and mid-level admins. Hope we get a flood of
volunteers. I am not sure how to proceed with building a core
development group or a community of registered contributors; suggestions
welcome about this aspect of the project.

There is a separate mailing list for a development team. It is:
http://lists.ibiblio.org/mailman/listinfo/pcdb

Project example:
A group could create an ethics in permaculture section to be referred to
as the Ethics In Permaculture FAQ (frequently asked questions). List
users interested in this could be referred to this document-in-progress
instead of reinventing the ethics wheel, instead, giving it a turn,
a revolution to stir the pot.

Guild discussion in this list? Post highlights in the Guilds section of
permaculture.info wiki.

The site runs in MediaWiki and is referred to as the Permaculture
Information Web on the main page. This is not a fixed name for the
wiki., just a convenient description.

Overview

In this wiki, community members are using principles of
permaculture design to build a base of knowledge for designing human
habitats.

The living parts of these habitats are made of elements; things
like apple trees, chickens and dandelions. Groups of elements that
interact in a beneficial way are organized into guilds. A guild is
defined by a few core elements that define that guilds character.

One or more guilds guilds can be associated with built
structures as suited to a particular location to create a pattern. For
example, a hayfield, mulch, a chicken tractor, chicken forage plant
guilds, fencing, and a compost system may combine into a chicken forage
garden system, where chickens and materials are moved around to achieve
a particular economy and diverse yield. patterns, built structures, and
even elements are associated with the zones that describe the proximity
to our homes and paths of travel.

These patterns are tuned to local context, described by
hydrology, soils, and landscape setting. designs must be attuned to the
creations of nature as well as the natural disturbance regimes that
dominate landscapes. Techniques and tools are used to evaluate and
construct these patterns.

Ecological design and permaculture work are done by
organizations and groups that are doing work on specific sites or have
online resources. These sites are distributed across many lands, and are
similar patterns occur within the natural provinces of the earth called
ecoregions.

On this site people share ideas as well as online resources,
books, documents, and their designs

What little literature?I've seen suggests that walnuts will come true from
seed, regardless of the?parent's rootstock.? Does anyone know for sure if
this is the case???Also, is there any reason why?regular old?walnuts at the
grocery store wouldn't germinate?? I?would?assume those would be superior
cultivars.?

Thanks in advance,

A new book, Hope Beneath Our Feet: Restoring Our Place in the Natural
World, edited by Martin Keogh, is now available at amazon.com. The anthology,
designed to answer the question "In a time of environmental crisis, how can
we live right now?" includes essays on permaculture by Bill Mollison and my
PC teacher Larry Santoyo. I also have an essay in the book, "Coping with
the New Realities," about the psychology of coping with escalating
eco-challenges.

The anthology also includes essays by Paul Hawken, Bill McKibben, Michael
Pollan, Barbara Kingsolver, Alice Walker, Vicki Robin, Frances Moore Lappe,
Byron Katie, Bioneers' Nina Simons, historian Howard Zinn, Wendell Berry
and many more -- 56 in all. Good company for permaculture :-)

Everyone,

I'm looking for permaculture projects to participate in...most likely
starting in the Spring, but possibly sooner for the right project. It would
be nice if there was a website that had a section where people who have
something going on and need help could advertise. Perhaps there is such a
site and I just don't know it. Any suggestions?

Also, if you yourself need help on your own project, or perhaps would be
interested in partnering up on something, let me know.

Dave

Great news, thanks Lawrence. Glad to see that the work that
contributors have put on can be built on and shared again.

Looking at the front page:

"In this wiki community members are using principles of permaculture
design to build a base of knowledge for designing human habitats" -
I'll be interested to see what that looks like in practice, and
whether there are ideas there for the structure of Appropedia.org. Or
perhaps someone can give some feedback on Appropedia's structure -
www.appropedia.org/Appropedia:CategoryTree - we've put in a lot of
work on the categories, but they can definitely be improved. But that
could be a whole other thread.

Open source wiki knowledge FTW!
