Typha is cattails or bullrush as they are known in elsewhere.
Scirpus is one of the many sedges also know as bullrush. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scirpus
Juncus consists of about 225 species of grassy plants commonly called *rushes* (common names can be so confusing).http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juncus
There's a mnemonic for this:
Sedges have edges
and rushes are round
and grasses, like asses, have holes.
