Yes. I think this is an important point. Observation is sometimes better that
acting. You get a
chance to learn something you might not if you did act and also a better
understanding on when to
act. Acting meaning intervening with some 'cide' application.
Plants if they are healthy have the capacity to protect themselves from their
roots to tips of
their leaves. They also as you witnessed can get help from outsiders, other
than ourselves, who by
their evolutionary relationships with plants and what we might call plant
pests are better suited
to deal with 'pest' damage. How we culture plants has a great effect on the
kinds of pests and the
number of pests that will engage our crops. By paying attention to our own
inputs we can minimize
pest damage, which will lower costs in time and money.
