Modular Permaculture Design Courses 2006/7

HANCOCK, NEW YORK - The Hancock Permaculture Center in
Hancock, New York, established to promote sustainable
living in the Upper Delaware bioregion, announces two
modular permaculture design courses coming summer 2006
and winter, 2007 at Hancock Permaculture Center. Go to
web site for details.

Permaculture is one of the fastest growing
environmental movements on the planet and is a method
of using land and resources in ways that sustain the
environment while providing economic and lifestyle
benefits to individuals and communities.

The officially titled Permaculture Design Certificate
Course (PDC) presents an introduction to permaculture
as set forth by Australian legend Bill Mollison,
founder of the movement. www.tagari.com. Graduates
receive the official permaculture certificate.

The Hancock course comprises five week-end units
covering the official permaculture curriculum
including application of permaculture principles to
habitat, energy, landscape and water harvesting,
gardening and food production, alternative economic
structures and legal strategies supporting
permaculture solutions. Dwindling oil reserves,
climate change, food and health issues in current
political context will be examined. Credit for the
72-hour course is accepted by a growing number of
universities in the U.S. and abroad.

The first cycle of the PDC course begins the first
weekend in August 2006 and subsequent first weekends
through December. The second cycle commences first
weekend, February 2007. Students have opportunity to
select any five units and choice of specialty
instructors. This course is designed to maximize
flexibility for students and instructors.
Cost: $230 per weekend. Lunch provided. Accommodation
on request.
