I thought I'd better jump in and mention that the Permaculture Credit Union offers loans for educational purposes. Unfortunately, loans for Design Courses don't fall in the category of our student loan program which is only for accredited academic institutions at this time. The type of loans that are presently available for Design Courses are signature loans and share-secured loans. And, unlike grants and scholarships, loans do need to be paid back. However, think of this as a means to get your certificate so you can go out and use the certificate to make the money to pay back your loan and then continue in your permaculture career.

For more information, check out the PCU Web Site: http://www.pcuonline.org (all the forms are available on the Services page), drop an email to: mailto:info@pcuonline.org, or call the PCU office at: (505) 954-3479; or Toll Free: (866) 954-3479

Good luck in your studies-

While we are on the subject of looking for money - I have been looking for a
grant to help subsidize a permaculture course. Not simply for one
participant, but help with sponsoring the entire thing. Would only be a
couple thousand dollars...

Any leads greatly appreciated.

Kelven,

Thank you for asking about grant, scholarship opportunities to help offset
costs for pursuing the Permaculture Design Certificate. I would be
interested to hear of opportunities out there as well. I would appreciate
seeing any information posted at this listserv.

You may already have discovered through your research that there are often
opportunities to offset the educational costs through work/trade
agreements
with the educating institute offering the certification.

Personally, the work/trade opportunity will be the most beneficial
solution
to pursue for offsetting my costs and getting the most out of my education
experience since much of Permaculture is learned by doing and I am
starting
out with very little experience. So, that route works for me.

Good luck with your search.

Hello all,

Can anyone suggest any companies or foundations to approach that have in
the
past or currently
offer aid for individuals interested in acquiring a permaculture design
certificate? My internet
search so far has turned up zilch. Does anyone know any permaculture
groups
which offer
scholarships? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
