Hi Michele, I farm and work with biological
control. When we order the native convergent lady beetles to apply on
crops, they have been stored in a refrigerator in a cloth bag, partially filled
with excelsior (stiff, long wood shavings) to give the ladybugs some crawling
and breathing room. The cloth bag should be slightly moistened with a
spray bottle of water every few days. At least when they are shipped, the bag is
often placed within a wooden open-slat crate to keep them from being smashed.
You'd want to keep the temp above freezing, but below 50 degrees F to slow them
way down. Hope this helps. I can find you more specific references if you'd
