Hi Michele, I farm and work with biological control.  When we order the native convergent lady beetles to apply on crops, they have been stored in a refrigerator in a cloth bag, partially filled with excelsior (stiff, long wood shavings) to give the ladybugs some crawling and breathing room.  The cloth bag should be slightly moistened with a spray bottle of water every few days. At least when they are shipped, the bag is often placed within a wooden open-slat crate to keep them from being smashed. You'd want to keep the temp above freezing, but below 50 degrees F to slow them way down. Hope this helps. I can find you more specific references if you'd like.  Good Luck, Cindy Lashbrook
