Re: Loren Davidson's - "So you just can't stand bigots, eh? Wouldn't want
your daughter to marry one?"

Hi Loren,

Why do you always seem to go straight for the jugular? You did the same to
mIKEL and others. Curious attitude for one who describes herself as a healer?

No, I didn't actually comment on 'bigots' Loren, only on bigotry itself as an
idea, concept or attitude. I don't have a problem distinguishing between the
person and their ideas or attitudes. I can think of many people for whom I
have the greatest respect and yet I vehemently disagree with their opinions.
If I dislike someone, it is usually based upon the impact of their actions
upon others. (for example, I do have trouble 'liking' bullies.)

I try to value the humanity within each person. I have a favorite traditional
Tibetan greeting which is given when two people met. Each person pressing
their palms together and offering a slight bow to the other while saying:
'Tashi Deley'.

I am told that 'Tashi Deley' translates into something like this: "I honor
the greatness in you. I honor the place in your heart where lives your
courage, honor, love, hope, and dreams. I honor the place in you where, if
you are at that place in you and I am at that place in me, there is only one
of us."

Loren, I'm not perfect. Not even a close approximation. I can be a grumpy old
bugger at times. But I do try to genuinely honor the greatness in others,
even those who may sometimes be seen as the least of us. And I've been
humbled many times by finding greatness in the most unexpected places.

Take care of yourself, Loren

Gaiden

(P.S. I must confess Loren, I sometimes have trouble understanding some of
your idiomatic expressions. "God/dess really *is* an iron, y'know." Sorry,
that's too clever for me. I don't understand it. There was another one,
something about 'carrying pictures of dead presidents'. I didn't get that one
either. My apologies for being so dense.)

(P.P.S My daughter is wonderful, beautiful, terribly aggravating and fiercely
independent young woman. She's quite capable of accepting responsibility for
her own choices. I love and respect her dearly, even if I don't always agree
with her choices. Thanks for your concern though. I'll pass it on to her.)
