A beekeeeper will install a bee escape in the building and seal all the
entrances being used by the bees. The bee escape only allows bees to exit,
not re-enter the hole. It is a conical shape with the small end being the
exit, the reverse of a crab trap. After all the bees have left, 6 or so
weeks, the trap is removed and the hole sealed. There will be honey left in
the building wall or ceiling. Vigilance is required to insure that bees do
not make new entrances and recolonize the honey storage area. The entire
process is easy to execute and not very expensive. It does require time and
labor.

Aloha,

I've had this problem once, and so have some friends...

Our solution was to contact experienced beekeepers to come and deal with
the problem by doing whatever it is they do...removing the hive, or
inducing them to leave permanently, or whatever it is they can do - they
have ways to get the bees out that don't involve spraying poison and
killing all the bees.
