Paul, You might try ducks if you do not have snakes. Also many of the
herbs and forbes can also be nfing, Astraglus, lupins, clovers and
cortilaria as ground cover. 15 years ago I brought up a dozen garder snakes
from my walks down to the spring that runs 80 feet below the ridge where our
forest garden and greenhouse are located. I had no idea that they would
multiply to over a 100 and provide an important service. This fall over a
100 robins came through on their way south to feast on my worm in the mulch,
but first they ate all the cabbage lupers, I had sprayed bt earler, but it
got washed of in a rain and never got around reaplying the stuff. The
robins did the job, but it cost me a few worm for their service. Since the
forest garden also doubles as a worm farm, I was only shareing the surplus.
I like the think that all the smart worms survived the rabin attact. The
