Aloha,

I haven't been able to break it, but if y'all could try a couple of
random searches I'd appreciate it. If you get an 'Internal Server
Error' send me the URL asap.

* No Internal Server Errors (yet ;-), but this search for example:

http://permaculture.info/cgi-bin/eden?search=%22elephant+grass%22+and+rye&button=Search+PIW

returns a blank page. Source of page is:

<html><body></body></html>

Text entered in search field was

"elephant grass" and rye

It appears to be the double-quotes that hose it, as just plain

"elephant grass"

or

"ironwood"

has exactly the same result.

http://permaculture.info/cgi-bin/eden?search=%22elephant+grass%22&button=Search+PIW

Replacing double with single quotes appears to work OK, e.g.

'elephant grass'

* Searching on

this + that

returns results indicating they are for 'this +' - where did 'that go??

OTOH searching on

bouganvilla + red

returns results indicating they are for 'bouganvilla + red'

SO...we need to know what the "rules" are for your one-field search form.
And so do site visitors, which makes the "one field" search form not always as simple as we'd like.

Some of the above results may be intentional on your part (looks like you are recognizing and stripping out stuff like 'a', 'and', etc. - is that where 'that' went?) but will not "work" for some people's assumptions about the search field and what can be put in it, etc.

IOW what is a 'well formed' search string at this point?

aloha,
John S.
