Aloha,

Lots of thunking needed to get this sweet.
There are basically three things
1) enter a whole new plant.

That would be adding an object

2) ammend one field in existing data
3) ammend multiple fields

Either one would be editing object. If all fields are presented, user can edit one or more and then save changes.
Don't see any need for 2) as a separate case.

So I see two operations:

Add plant

Edit plant

If we have (for one example) narrative add-ons that are not part of the core object attributes but rather other objects attached to them, a third might be

Attach narrative
