Ginda is correct about the volitility of acetone. It does attack some plastics, though. Particularly PVC. Polypropylene and polyethylene are pretty much immune.

What about on a plastic primary, it wouldn't break down or try to melt
the plastic?

I use all certified organic practices, so I'm pretty sure this is
ruled out as a cleaner, but it's good to know there is something out
there high powered enough to defeat the goo. I could always clean
something up & pass it on to someone who wasn't concerned with such
things.

Acetone is extremely volatile. I would think that it would completely evaporate and leave the glassware with no discernible residue within an hour or two of using it, even if you didn't re-clean the glassware with soap and water (which I would do).

Steve, would you drink wine from glassware that had been cleaned with
acetone? I get physically sick just opening a container of it.

& the million dollar question is, are your figs ripe yet?
