What kind of size fruits do Red Beauty give you? I've heard that they're small, but that's all relative I guess. My September sun produces fruit about 1.5 inches long.
Is the foliage really very spectacular in the autumn? I have to say all my maples and oaks, etc put on such a fabulous display I hadn't thought of planting the kiwis for autumn colour. I do appreciate the variegation during the summer mind.
I agree about the harvesting time. It is extremely difficult to tell. Oh well, one day we'll know the secret!

I planted September Sun at some point but I'm guessing it's one of the ones
I've lost because it's not in my inventory. I've only tasted Red Beauty so
far for kolomiktas, flavor is good. I'm always amazed how strong the kiwi
flavor is in those small fruit. This year I should hopefully be tasting 3
new varieties of kolomikta& 2 new varieties of arguta.
I've had kiwi fruit to harvest for about 3 years& I still can't tell what
the correct time is to pick. I usually end up with a mix of green fruit,
perfect fruit& over ripe fruit. Going by feel doesn't seem to be a very
good indicator.

mIEKAL, I believe the male is Pasha and the female September Sun. I__________________
tasted the fruit last year. I didn't have that many but they were very
good. The problem for me was picking them at the right moment. When they
were just right they were absolutely delicious. They seemed to turn over
ripe inside quite quickly so I left some others on the vine. They
ripened very late in the season for me( September sun is right!) and I
made the mistake of not harvesting them all. We had a light frost at the
beginning of October and that was the end of that!
I don't know if you'll have that problem but I'll be sure not to take
any chances this year!
What varieties do you have? There's not that much choice in kolomitka
available up here. Most places try to sell you A. Issai but I was
worried about its hardiness up here. The kolomitkas don't seem to have
any trouble so far.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll like the flavour. Let me know how you find
the differences in taste (if discernible). I am looking to get more
females I just have to work out a space issue (especially with the
growth I have this year!).
