If you don't get suckers to work with, I wonder if this is something you can pin tips to the ground and roots may develop there? I have no experience with seaberry, but know some widely differing green things that can be propogated this way, for instance, raspberries and western red cedar. Can anyone verify one way or the other? Dave Liezen Date: Sun, 9 Jan 2011 08:21:43 -0600 From: qazingulaza@gmail.com To: nafex@lists.ibiblio.org Subject: Re: [NAFEX] seaberry source? I always assumed the One Green World plants were grafted, in which case the suckers would be generic seedling stock. If they are own-rooted how are their plants propagated? Good to get a confirmation about die back, I would tend to guess drought conditions over too much water also.
Dale, at Carandale Farms south of Madison, has a fairly good collection of seaberry cultivars that are about 8-9 years old. I've been meaning to check out his fruit selections. He's actually been selling the berries at Dane County farmer's market for the last few years as well as doing educational work with the people who come by & have never heard of them.
