No, I am not one who likes aronia-but I do have an unusual variety of autumn
olive that is good, not tart like the others.-

We get about 25 inches of rain here and I am on a fairly heavy clay soil but
I have slight mounds for some of my garden and a bigger mound for some
desert like plants. My tremps are in the low 70s in the summer into
September and early October when it can get up to 90s and occasionally a
100.

Just over the hills from me, it gets to about 95 degrees regularly and over
the next set of hills, it can get up to 105 in the summer occasionally. They
get about 13 inches of rain there.

This article says it gets to about 3 feet-- mine are probably 10 years old
and are almost 5 feet by 5 feet.
http://www.tradewindsfruit.com/chilean_guava.htm . It says that Chilean
Guavas take temps down to about 18 degrees

Raintree carries them. Their description says a tart flavor-- mine are not
tart but maybe in a really cool area, they are. Also, they may not have
waited until they get ripe. They are unusual in that you pick them when they
turn from red to almost pink (instead of the reverse). At red, they are tart
and not good at all. When they are a pinkish color, thy are good.

They sounds almost too good to be true... but you aren't one of those people
who thinks aronia is delicious, are you? :-)

What's your soil drainage and winter wetness like? Seems like not far from
SF you get into desert like landscapes. My spot should be fairly well
drained - but we get very wet here in winter.

How bad is the seediness I've seen reference to?

thanks!
