Wow Donna, I am impressed by the productivity you report. I can only dream of it. I have lovely sandy loamy riverine banks where I planted multiple apios last spring. I provided bamboo stakes to climb upon, kept them weed free and protected them with posts and some wire.
Unfortunately, they must be delicious to deer. I saw fawns crawling under the lowest wires to reach them and I believe they are all gone now.
