Sorry, there was another paragraph in which I lamented planting pawpaws
which have fruited and I've never sampled, mulberries that (though loaded
with fruit) that we get little of and 5 blueberry bushes that only were
sampled by me and my family when I netted (and I needed to go out almost
daily to let birds out of). I figure I'm just luring them in...
So, no I have no illusions about getting enough fruit or nuts to survive
(not on my 1/8th acre) for me, let alone my family. But I will sure be a
good shot if TSHTF.

Scott,
It's silly to try to debate this, as it's destined to be an endeavor of
simply sharing opinions. But I must say, if you and your family are able to
survive quite well on the exclusive efforts of your own
gardening/hunter/gathering, you are a better man than I. My family and I
produce quite a bit, even enough to sell some extra produce. Nonetheless,
we are dependent on the grocery store, aka farmer, for quite a bit of our
food staples. For us, to rely on our own hands for what we eat, would be a
hardship of the most shocking proportions.
