mIEKAL, I have birds harvesting my blueberries, too. I have fence- posts about 2.5' tall around my half-high blueberries. I have 2' of chicken wire to keep out the bunnies. I reinforce the bottom foot of that with hardware cloth. When the berries are near ripe I drape bird netting over the top, so it overlaps the hardware cloth.

I used to drape the bird netting to the ground, but critters (mostly chipmunks and juncos) tried to get in underneath, and snared themselves in the netting, and removing the rotting little bodies was very unpleasant. The foot of hardware cloth has eliminated that problem.

Alan, I'm just about to build a similar enclosure here for my
blueberries... Is it really necessary to have a chicken wire ceiling?
So far only the rabbits have been damaging the spring buds... Is
yours setup so you can stand up inside of it?

When I built my chicken wire blueberry house I foolishly failed to bury it

trapping the striped rats in rat traps baited with raisons and nuts.
They're pretty easy to control that way and the chicken wire keeps out the
birds so I'm not unintentionally killing any of them.
