For what it's worth, we've been using the acorns of Q. acutissima for a couple of years. Peel, but in blender with water, pour off water for 2-3 days and they are ready for eating. Very productive trees annually. Quite delicious, although laborious.

At the recent nafex conf. mention was made of the development of an edible
acorn. Does anyone have info. on this? My thought is to graft scion wood or
buds from this culitivar to local oak trees.
