There is one thing that should be said about sweet-pit apricots. They are the only type grown in some parts of central Asia but even in those areas they are roasted before being eaten (as you would roast any nut.) This removes any lingering cynide and cures the kernel.
The Hunza variety from northern Pakistan is sweet-pit apricot with small very sweet fruit. One selection of the Hunza apricot is being sold by Raintree nursery.

Richard Ashton

Steve,
Harcot is supposed to be sweet pit(non-poisonous). Have you tried it?

I've wanted to find and plant seeds from sweet-pit apricots (also calledthat
alpricots) I've heard that Chinese (Mormon) Apricot is an example, anyone
growing it who can verify that the pit is worthwhile?

That would be a lot of apricots to eat in a day. Also, I've heard that
is an internet hoax. Got any sources to support your assertion?used
