Hello All,

I too have some leaf curling. Some occurs each year, but this year, it is more prevalent.

I looked for leaf rollers (found many early in the year) - to no avail. The leaves that were curled are now turning black from the leaf tip to half way up the leaf. Some stems are still growing out with the newer leaves being normal. It makes me think of some transient trauma, a bad pollution day or an excessive chemical spray - but why only on sporadic stems? The weather has had extremes, 30-35 Celsius, while a few days later, it drops to the low teens at night. Yesterday we hit 35 with humidity (normal is 27), whereas tonight, we're going down to 12. Sun hours are 25% above normal. Very very dry!

Picked all my Red Currents last weekend. This weekend it will be the the blacks, Ben Sarek and Ben Lomond, and Jostaberries.

I notice this most years on some apples, but it seems much more pronounced this year,
however this year 3/4 of my couple hundred apple trees (many varieties) have it. I do not
see significant insect populations on affected stems, and the new leaves have eventually
come out unaffected in previous years. In looking on various apple disease websites I
have seen nothing like it, so I am asking for ideas of disease, insect, virus,
deficiency, etc. ....names or ideas for me to look farther into.
It seems Nafex photo page site still cannot upload images, so  I have started one of
those free photo sites for my fruit related pics, hope it works...
