I have this Lymans Large Summer apple I got from Southmeadow Fruit Gardens,
IIRC. Anyone else have one?

This tree seems to drop apples for some reason. They are quite edible now,
close to, but not quite ripe. They have a bit of water core. Nothing
apparent is wrong, but every night a couple of them fall off.

Most of them are around 3.5" in diameter now, quite good sized. It's nice
to have apples in July! (I'm in southeast Michigan).

I bagged them this year and it's worked OK. The apples take up most of the
room in the zipper sandwich bags, and some have expanded the bag enough to
open the zipper. There is a fair amount of condensation in the bags, and
earwigs get in there and can be a problem, although it doesn't seem to cause
any problem for the apples. I'm experimenting with perforating the bags with
a wire brush, and it seems to reduce the condensation quite a bit, but it's
a bit tedious to do.

The biggest problem of late has been raccoons getting up in the tree. I put
some raccoon repellent spray and some bird netting around the bottom of the
tree and it seems to be working.
