Richard,

Yes, Flying Dragon, of which I have one, is a contorted dwarf Trifoliate Orange.  Mine grows at about 1/4 the rate of the standard plant, its thorns are about half as long and it sets very few fruit.  Looks like mine will top out at 8 ft vs 25 ft for the real thing.

I assume that Flying dragon is a type of tri-foliate stock since it has 3 leaflets. Right?

Ginda,
Your potted meyer is grafted on Trifoliate Orange. It usually has 3 leaves (hence the name Trifoliata). Trifoliate orange is hardy in your area. If you like, you can cut off the peice of the rootstock, and root it. Cuttings of trifoliate orange take about one year to take.

My potted meyers lemon has a sprout from below the graft. It looks
completely different: the leaf is long and has three leaflets, and the
stem has more, thinner spikes.

I plan to remove it, but I'm curious what it might be. Any guesses?

The plant is hardy to about 20F, and the mature bark on the stock looks
just like the mature bark on the lemon.
