Same here at Zone 7 just south of Huntsville, AL.
The figs look like a blowtorch hit them. Same with pecans and
grapes.
As for pecans, I too am waiting to see how far back
they are damaged. With the sap up, they are very vulnerable.
Following the 1989 freze where the temp stayed
below 12 degrees F. for about 10 days and the Red river froze over, we lost over
50 mature pecans trees. Even stuarts in Arkansas were so severely damaged that
they came back only from the main trunk and a few feet out the larger
limbs.
This was following a good crop and a severe fall
drought.
My seven year old trees will hopefully survive the
predicted 22 degrees; last night was about 25 degrees F. Some of the younger
grafts will undoubtedly die.
The mature american persimmon and the 100 ft tulip
poplar were burned back and look really bad. They should both snap back - I
hope.

Where the plum and peach foliage still looked O.K.
today, but not the fruit.
