Howdy -

The next best exposure for a warmer microclimate would be a sunny west, followed by east, and finally north. (If you're in the northern hemisphere!)

It is, however, all relative -- if your westerly sunny microclimate is exposed to cold dessicating winds, and your sunny east is protected, then go for the east... etc.

If planting against a south facing wall is not an option, what would the
next best exposure be?  Would east Facing be preferable to west or north?
