I haven't seen anything like what you describe. My clove currants have been healthy and little bothered by insects. They are in nearly full sun in rocky/loamy soil in zone 6.

This thread of clove currents has been very
interesting, but am I the only one that sems to have
disease problems with them? Most of the ones I have
planted have these warty growths that burst the stem

within 2 years.
I thought about looking in to it and trying again, but
untill know I was wondering it it was worth the
effort.

Lon,
Both Ribes odoratum and Ribes aureum have a listed
variety called
golden currant. Are these two different things? The
one I know as

1. For best fruit production, do you prune them

2. I received nothing but conflicting information
Several nurseries told me that the 'Crandall'variety of /Ribes
