Hi All,

Here is one piece of the puzzle.  Resveratrol, just one of the beneficial compounds found in grapes, is found in wine, grape juice, and grapes, in varying amounts.  The following link is from Oregon State’s Linus Pauling Institute, and it contains a very thorough explanation.  It states the resveratrol is found only in the skins, and that fermentation accounts for the greater availability of the compound.  However, processed grape juice also contains a good amount, and my guess is that perhaps heat is also responsible for that—perhaps its not unlike tomatoes, wherein cooked tomato products contain more available lycopene than fresh raw tomatoes.  So you can still get good amounts of resveratrol without drinking wine.  Resveratrol is also found in blueberries, cranberries, and even peanuts!
