"Slow" vs "no growth". Wish I could see them. If it has been a few weeks and not even a swelled bud on the scionwood, I'd be tempted to carefully (or choose an expendable graft) nick the bark and check to see if the inside tissue is still alive. (Alive, more pale; dead, more brown.)
I always use splice grafts because they are simple, safe, and have given great success rate.

Thanks for the advice. I am being very, very patient. I have done almost
a dozen split grafts this spring with apples. So far, no growth on the
grafted wood but the root stock keeps showing new growth. Should I
remove the new growth on the rootstock in an attempt to get the tree to
focus its energy on the grafted wood? Thanks.
