You probably won't believe this, but Delicious from Lake Chelan in
Washington are incredibly good and not mealy. I think the growers there
harvest them at the right stage of maturity and store them properly.
That is probably why the best gift packs of Delicious often come from

Hello,
I grow Court Pendu Plat which is reputed by some to be an ancient Roman
apple.
It is not nealy at all. Keeps very well.
Red Delicious, now there is a crummy, very popular apple, that I
consider
mealy, or at least odd in texture. Many (most) apples taste better than
Red Delicous. But ohhh does it have eye appeal in the market.
