Hello,

Johnny Appleseed was primarily a good business man. He would plant apple nurseries ahead of the growing settlements, so when the frontier moving westward arrived, he had apple trees to sell to the new inhabitants.

When the pioneers arrived in a new area, they would find that John Chapman would have apple trees of good size to sell them, from the area.

He was simply a good business man. He was not interested in the quality of apples, as he planted seeds, and you never know what you will get from an apple seedling.

Later,
Tom

'Ello, All!
I saw a program a few years ago that stated that Johnny Appleseed, who
legend says spread apple seeds throughout a large area to supply food for
people, was actually planting apple seeds so that hard cider could be
produced. Therefore, he was promoting making alcohol available rather
than food. Has anyone heard of this aspect of the legend, is it likely
true or is the "official" legend correct? Just curious, no biggie either
way. Have a Good One! Love, Peace and Perception
