For anyone deeply interested in pistachio.
Several years ago I received three accessions of pistachio from the Univ. of Nebraska. The seed originally came from northern China. Of the three accessions one remains alive and survives our cold zone 5B winters although planted next to the South side of the house in a dry area. Winter tip kill has been next to none. It grows about 6 inches every year.
If there are any pistachio breeders out there looking for cold hardy breeding material I'd think this is a good candidate. I have no idea if it is pisstillate or staminate. I'd be happy to send any breeder scion wood, no charge. Supply is very limited.
