Once I did a little test "dwarf permaculture orchard" around some super
dwarf apples and plum on sand cherry roots with little comfrey, chives and
nodding onion, prostrate Ceanothus and dyer's broom (n-fixers), etc. etc. It
was delightful.
I use the "ornamental" small comfrey species alot in landscaping; they're
bumblebee favorites (I count the bumbles as allies for pollenation)
