I have a "standard" comfrey, cultivar unknown, that I got as a division
years ago. It has never run amok, and while the crown gradually gets
bigger, doesn't otherwise spread. Last year I made a bunch of divisions
from the 5 original plants and made a roughly 30' square planting with the
root divisions on a 4' grid, with compost in mind. All took, and I cut a
bunch of foliage about a month ago; could do another cutting any time now
in my copious spare time...
(Who knew "retirement" would be so busy?)
Cheers!
