I would like to grow Ugni molinae in my garden if I find that it fruits in
Seattle. I am waiting to see what the plants do at the arboretum. For the
past 3 years I have been growing both Pineapple Guava (Feijoa sellowiana)
and Strawberry Guava (Psidium cattleianum) in my garden. They have not
received any special care (just planted in a garden bed). Pineapple Guava
is said to be hardy to zone 8, while Strawberry Guava is hardy to zone 10.
Pineapple Guava gets a little damage from freezing weather. Strawberry
Guava should have died after the first winter, but it dies back to the
ground, then comes back from the roots each spring. Neither is showing
signs of blooming. If the Pineapple Guava ever blossoms, I think I will
harvest the blossoms for eating. They are said to be very fruity. I doubt
fruit would ever ripen around here without special care. I might have more
luck if I potted them.

Did a little search myself and found plenty of links
for Chilean Guava (Ugni molinae)- should have done my
own search first. Looks too tender for most of us,
except maybe as a container plant.
