This post is off-topic. But maybe it will help someone else avoid my cluttered mailbox.

It started a year or two ago. At first it was just a trickle, maybe a piece every week or two, but it gradually built up to enough that I have to actively manage it with filters and such - maybe 10-30 pieces each day. Spammers sell mailing lists to each other, so once you get on a couple of lists, it's only a matter of time before you have problems. I expect I'll need a new mailing address, soon. (Or maybe I should have done that a year ago.)

I think my mistake was posting a review of a mail order nursery on the "plants by mail FAQ" (http://pbmfaq.dvol.com/list/index.html). I recommend the site, but suggest you don't post anything under a real address. The e-mail addresses of contributors are readily available for "spam-bots" which roam the web looking for anything that might be a valid address. I have also joined Yahoo, but don't think that generated much spam. (Of course, it's hard to know for sure.) Recently, I've figured this eddress is hosed, so I've been less cautious, and I recently got a fresh batch of spam after filling out some on-line survey -- this is easy to identify (and to automatically filter into the trash) because it refers to the pseudonym I used at the site. I've never visited a chat room, and have only visited bulletin boards related to my employment - I've never gotten spam from those. Mailing lists also seem fairly safe. I got a little "spam" from a member of this list, but he stopped after someone complained.

Best,
Ginda

Raspberries have started to come in!

What do you guys use to get so much spam?
I am curious because I almost never receive any spam.
And I belong to several lists like this one.
I do not visit chat rooms and do not join Yahoo or any of those places>

There's no attachment, and it looks like all the rest of my spam (which is copious) except that it happens to be about growing fruit, rather than about sex or drugs or easy money. I only wrote out of concern that someone might be using this list to gather names.
Thanks.

(I'm using an unusual mailer on an unusual OS, so most viruses don't work. Outlook on WinXX is nearly a monoculture and attracts predators.)

grafting pomegranates, or something like that.

That sounds more like you were sent a virus. It would be a very good idea
to go to McAffee and get something to check your computer.
