Hi,

Just took a tour through the in-law's orchard and there is a lot of
variation there too. Northern Spy varies between leaf break, and tight
cluster buds, to pink buds, A Melba is beginning to bloom. Blenhein
Pippin (possibly local) is as late as the Northern Spy.

Bought a 30 gallon plastic tub today to move the Court Pendu Plat into.
It is a small tree naturally, and with the dwarfing rootstock should be
smaller still.

My plan is to fill the barrel with a ratio of 2 topsoil, to 1 composted
manure, to 1 peat moss. Drain holes in the tub, covered with broken
crockery, and a couple inches of gravel on the bottom for good drainage.

Even the greenhouse is behind. Normaly the tomatoes would be going in the
ground this weekend, but they are only 4" tall. Cool weather, and a lack
of sun has really held us back. It is a cool greenhouse, dropping to 55F
at night, more of a walk-in coldframe with this weather.

I can wait another two weeks to plant the tomatoes, as long as the weather
cooperates and gives us some heat.

Later,
Tom
