All,

Kind of an off the wall question, but my son is interested in doing a
science project on seed germination in various growth media. Amongst the
media he selected are sand from the pile in the back of the house, and pea
gravel from around the basement foundation. Not knowing what lurks among
them, I probably need to somehow sterilize it before he plants his seeds.

Will probably use the oven for this, but at what temperature, and for how
long? Is there another way that you could suggest I sterilize the "soil"?

Thanks,

Brian Raby
Sheridan, IN zone 5b, where the rain has finally stopped. No sign of green
tip yet nor any bud swelling on the grapes. Will probably pull the straw
off the strawberries later after work.
